ASP.NET 2.0 provides you with the tools you need to build
more powerful, faster, more reliable Web applications that
can be scaled to meet the customer's needs. Traditional ASP
applications require extensive code for common tasks like
database access, user management, and security. It includes
drag-and-drop controls that you can implement without writing
a single line of code. It includes controls to help you develop
applications with a consistent look and feel. Master pages,
themes and skins, and navigation controls allow you to create
template pages without having to reproduce code for each new
page. By using the new controls, redesign changes can be updated
in the main template, and the application is automatically
updated. Personalization features enable you to customize
the content seen by each user. Web parts and Profile allow
you to store personalization information for each user, and
to display personalized UI based on this information.
