Developing XML Web Services Using Microsoft ASP .NET

Course Description:

The goal of this course is to provide students with the knowledge and skills that are required to develop Extensible Markup Language (XML) Web services-based solutions to solve common problems in the distributed application domain. The course focuses on using Microsoft Visual Studio .NET and Microsoft ASP.NET to enable students to build, deploy, locate, and consume Web services.

This course will teach you how Web Services solves problems with traditional approaches to designing distributed applications. You will be able to describe Web Service solution architectures. You will understand the technologies of Web Services and how the Microsoft .NET framework implements them. You will use Microsoft Visual Studio .NET to publish, deploy and secure a Web Service. You will understand and be able to identify the trade-offs and issues involved in designing real-world Web Services. You be able to implement nonstandard Web Services such as screen scraping, aggregating Web Services and HTML.

We recommend that you have a familiarity with C# or Microsoft Visual Basic .NET. You should also be able to program in C++, Java, or Microsoft Visual Basic.
